Communication Specialist

Function description

As a Communication Specialist you ensure an active, consistent and meaningful communication on a day-to-day basis in on- and off-line media, both internally as externally. You will inform and motivate our employees by using our intranet, regular newsletters, email bulletins and social media. The creation and follow-up of a strategic communication plan is your key to success.

Furthermore, you support the marketing team in content creation. As excellent copywriter with exceptional attention to details, you understand the importance of target communications, including writing for a specific audience via the most effective communications medium  

As Ferranti’s Communication Specialist, you attract our (potential) customers’ attention with the provided information and answers to  their questions.

This translates into the following tasks (indicative, not limitative):

  • Establish an internal communications strategy in conjunction with senior management
  • Communicating organisational initiatives and projects to employees and stakeholders
  • Plan, edit and write content for a variety of internal communications media, such as a staff intranet, monthly magazine or regular email bulletin. Participate actively in any corporate or individual’s public image positioning initiatives such as crafting new logos, taglines, brand naming, etc.
  • Create company literature and use social media to communicate both internally and externally
  • Prepare presentations for organisational events
  • Create marketing and promotional materials, both print and electronic
  • Create and deliver press releases, media relations content, case studies, white papers, executive bios, corporate newsletter content, social media content etc.
  • Develop fresh story ideas and manage different information streams

 The position will report to the Director Corporate Efficiency.

 You have:

  • A master or bachelor’s degree in Communication, Journalism, Public Relation or Marketing
  • At least 4-6 years of experience in a similar role
  • Experience in creating a strong and active corporate communication both internally and externally
  • Thorough knowledge of English and Dutch, knowledge of French or other languages is a plus
  • Strong writing and presentation skills in English and Dutch (and French)
  • Background or experience in an international organisation is a plus
  • Experience in web design, copywriting and editing
  • Experience in leveraging social media and other e-based platforms (Facebook, Workplace by Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube and SharePoint).
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills; knowledge of photo and video-editing software is an asset
